Day 19:

Today I am doing a rest day. Recovery is important too.
In an effort to not totally slack though, I got a little bit in. I did 22 minutes on the stationary bike for 4 miles, 4 sets of 10 modified crunches and then some stretching.

I’m happy to report that after being very diligent on watching my sodium intake, and trying out relaxation breathing techniques for the last few days – my blood pressure reading was down considerably this morning. Knowing that it’s lower, literally lowers my blood pressure lol. All jokes aside, I just want to be the best me possible.
Hopefully your Thursday is going well, we’re in the home stretch of the week!

Day 18:

I’ve got a busy day today, and I had to do work stuff while working out; so I’ve got my serious face on.

Today I set out for a 30 minute workout, but because I had to stop a couple times I ended up going for 40 minutes. I cycled for 22 minutes and got in 5 miles. Did 2 sets of 20 modified crunches and 3 sets of 10 push-ups. Then a nice cool down with some stretching.

Strangely on some days, I find myself actually wanting to just jump out of bed and start a workout right then. Today was one of those days. Never thought in a million years I would look forward to working out. That plan doesn’t necessarily work with our daily morning schedule, but maybe one day I’ll be able to pull it off on a weekend and see how it goes.

Taco Tuesday was extra tasty last night. Used Gardein ground bef and I cooked it up with no additional salt, just lots of herbs and spices. Jeney made some delicious black beans too. For your viewing pleasure, I have a picture of all that as well.

Day 17:

Today I worked out for 1 hour and 5 minutes!
39 minutes on the stationary bike for a total of 7.7 miles. After that I got in the bag workout that I did not accomplish yesterday. Punching, kicking and some knees. The bag didn’t stand a chance, lol. I finished off with three sets of 10 modified push-ups, and then a cool down.
I am definitely feeling immensely better than I did when I started this journey. However my blood pressure is still high.

My resting heart rate is down, I’ve lost 10 lb from my peak weight, and I know for sure I’ve lost body fat because my belt is looser.
I’m hopeful that the blood pressure starts to get dialed in.
I hope you all have a terrific taco tuesday!

Day 16:

I’ve got appointments early in the morning today, so I only got a brief workout in, unfortunately. 20 minute workout, 15 minutes on the bike, 2.7 miles. Then I did some push-ups and a little bit of a cooldown.
TBH, not the workout I wanted to do, really felt like beating the hell out of the bag today. I just don’t have time for that this morning. I might follow up later today when I get back home.

Some of you have noticed my left eye. I woke up with some sort of broken blood vessel in my eye on Saturday. IDK what the heck it is. It’s a little uncomfortable, but it’s more unsightly than it is painful though. I had planned on making an eye doctor appointment this week for Jeney and I, we need updated prescriptions for our contacts. So I’ll get it checked out to make sure I’m good to go.

-
Day 15:

Worked out for 1 hour today. 41 minutes on the stationary bike for a total of 9 miles! The rest of the time was spent doing modified crunches, arm weights and stretching.

My cardio is definitely much better than it was. We did a bunch of yard work yesterday afternoon and I did not get winded like I had over the past year or so.
I hope you all have a superb Sunday

-
Day 14:

After a rest day, I got after it this morning. 55 minute workout. 35 minutes on the stationary bike for 8.2 miles. The rest of the 20 minutes split between bag work, weights, pushups and cool down stretching.

Hope you all have the best Saturday possible!!

Day 13:

Today was a rest day. I don’t want to overdo it and end up burning out – or overworking muscles and joints. Muscle recovery is important too.

I did get on the bike for 15 minutes, got about 2 miles in. I didn’t want to do nothing, so basically I just got my blood pumping a little bit.
I’ll be back at it tomorrow morning…
Have a fantastic Friday my friends!
-
Day 12:

Today was another one of those days where I felt less motivated to work out. But when it comes down to it, that’s just an excuse to slack. I’m not slacking, so I got up and got after it.
I rode the bike for 30 minutes, getting in 6 miles. I really went hard on the bike today, and got my heart rate above 150.
That’s the highest it’s been since my evening in the hospital when my heart was racing out of control, even though I was just sitting on the couch.
Having my heart rate get that high again was a little freaky – in that way where it brings you back to a scary point in time. But I pushed through it and then cooled down during the last 7 minutes of my ride so I didn’t step off the bike at such a high bpm.
After the bike, I did some weights, balance exercises and then a little bit of stretching. I am seeing some real results now, my belt is now loose!!

This afternoon I’ve got to show some houses. My other mission is getting a couple of applications that I have for rental houses approved by the property owners. If you know somebody looking for a rental house, hit me up!

I hope you all are having an absolutely amazing Thursday.

Day 11:

Yesterday I went hard AF, and this morning woke up sooo sore! Today my workout was for 48 minutes. I took it a little bit easier, as I don’t want to hurt myself. Got in 4.9 miles over the course of 25 minutes on the stationary bike. I hit the bag lightly and stretched. I did attempt some crunches. I have not yet worked on my midsection. I thought I was going to die, lol. My midsection needs some help.

I’m definitely starting to feel like I’m getting results. Although I can’t BS anyone, I wish it was faster. I was pissed off this morning to see that I gained a pound from yesterday to today. I’m trying to lose weight dammit! But I do feel stronger, and my cardio is way better. I am not getting nearly as tired as I did at the beginning.
Today is 14 days sober. Feels kind of weird, but it also feels good. To go from beer and bourbon drinking late night party dude – to guy who works out 30 to 60 minutes a day has been quite a transition over the course of 2 weeks. I’m not sure if permanent sobriety is something that will become a fixture in my life, but here I am today. I’m happy for it.

As promised, here is a picture of the tacos from last night!!

Have a wonderful Wednesday my friends!

Day 10:

Today’s workout was for 1 hour. I was on the stationary bike for 36 minutes and got in 7 miles. The remainder of the time was split between bag work (both punching and knees), stretches and some weights. During the workout I watched one of my favorite TV shows, Shark Tank – kept me motivated. Although working out isn’t a business for me, it still is serious business.

I continue to be stoked by the amount of people who have reached out, both on FB and IG. I’m happy to see/hear other people getting after it. I deeply appreciate everybody’s motivating sentiments sent my way.

Today is #TacoTuesday, so I’ve got tofu in the fridge marinating in some homemade adobada sauce. That’s going to be slow roasted in our countertop convection oven, using just a smidge of evoo to keep the fat down. We’ve got some veggies from the farmers market in the fridge and have been growing red leaf lettuce in our garden. It’s gonna make for some

tacos for Jeney and myself this evening. Don’t worry, I’ll post pictures.
I did get my test results back from my blood work yesterday. Fortunately, almost all the results were positive. I still have a bit too high of cholesterol and triglycerides. One of my readings was that I have a little bit of a ‘fatty liver’. My doctor said to continue on with my current path and will retest in 4 months. He feels confident that those readings should come in positive if I continue forward.
I AM continuing forward.
Have a terrific Tuesday my friends!
